About this blog, and me

I’m a first year math teacher at a pretty nice high school in a pretty big city. I used to work in public relations for nonprofits because I like helping people, but then I realized that I never actually saw any of the people I was helping. That’s when I decided to become a teacher so I could see my little people every day. This blog starts about halfway through my first official year of teaching (though I was a long-term substitute in a physics class before that). I’d like to think I’m speaking some truths about classroom life that I haven’t found posted anywhere else on the internet.

P.S. Comments are welcome, but please be kind. In addition to having strong opinions, I also have a ridiculously fragile ego.

  1. Hi. My name is teara and God has called me to be a teacher too. It took 3 years for me to listen, and college would have been Better if I would have listened sooner. At first, I wanted to go into nursing or premed because I wanted to help people too. It took 4 people for me to understand what my purpose and major should be and it took one other person to confirm it. I’m still in school, but things are going well now. God wants me to be a science teacher. I really would like to teach high school. 🙂 Thank you for sharing your story. It means a lot to me.
